ORDERING USING 3D SECURE

We have introduced the service globally known as 3D Secure - a process that requires customers to also have card details checked by the banking system itself at the time of sale.

3D Secure is supported by the 2 main card issuing companies MasterCard and Visa. The MasterCard service is called SecureCode and the Visa equivalent is known as Verified by Visa. Both of these security systems require you to register your card with the service and set up a passcode that you will need to enter every time you make a purchase from 3D Secure sites such as ours.

SECURECODE

SecureCode provides cover for both MasterCard credit cards and Maestro/Switch debit cards. Registration, as the images below demonstrate, is very straightforward. The first change in the checkout you will see is a new message informing you that you are about to be connected to the bank for the security check.

After a short delay the SecureCode system is shown on screen. If your card is already registered with the system you will be taken straight to the verification panel, but if not you will be given the opportunity to register your card.

The 4 images below show how easy this will be - and once it is done the passcode that you entered is all you will need for future purchases at either our, or any other 3D Secure store.

Please note that if you do not activate your SecureCode account for the card, then the transaction will be declined - see below

WARNING!!
Some card issuers operate a '3 strikes and out' policy where your card will be disabled if you make too many wrong attempts at entering your password. If, after a couple of attempts, the passcode you are using has not worked, you are strongly advised to cancel the process and contact your card issuer for advice.

If you continue to make invalid attempts you run the risk of putting your card on 'stop'.

Please note that this is the policy that has been put in place by the card issuers and not Crabtree & Evelyn. Any problems in this area should be addressed directly to your card issuer and not to any of our support departments.

Verified by Visa

As the name indicates this is provided to secure Visa card payments. The setup process is slightly more involved than for SecureCode - but just as easy.

Unlike SecureCode which recognises if you are not yet enrolled, the first Verified by Visa panel you see will be asking for a passcode straight away. In this case it is up to you to choose yourself whether to enter the one time set-up process if you have not previously registered.

Just look for the link that says 'I have not enrolled in YourCard secure' - see the finger point icon in the first image below.

Do NOT be tempted to try a passcode without first registering your card - see the warning above

These 4 images below show the registration panels and verification screen for this service

Now you will be able to enter verification details into the original screen you have seen. Note that, unlike SecureCode, you will be asked to enter only certain random characters from the code you have set up.

Note: Please be aware that not all the credit card issuers themselves have signed into this service yet. You may find that your particular card does not currently require you to go through 3D Secure - in which case you will see no change at all to the way you currently checkout of our store.

If you want more details on 3D Secure please contact your card issuer direct or alternatively visit the card issuers website.
